Q: PROCEDE seems a ‘bit too much’ for the project I have in mind. What are my options?

A: Of course, all projects are not created equal. In fact, it is a smaller number of R.BIRD client projects that require the rigor of PROCEDE. Please, tell us more about your particular situation and we will make a recommendation for best approach.

Q: If my project does not demand the features of PROCEDE, will the results be ‘downgraded’ in some way?

A: Regardless of scope, every R.BIRD project embraces the principles that built PROCEDE. Download the “Principles of Procede” document to see how.

Q: I limit my design projects to an agreed number of submissions for first phase. Why is getting "more" better?

A: What PROCEDE will do is show you an expanded range of valid, potential solutions. That's where innovation comes from. We let you see how your problem might be solved from different points of view -- not because we can't decide, but because greater possibilities help get to a better match to your desired strategy. PROCEDE results in a rich, fertile range of options. With PROCEDE you get to see all of these options, then effectively decide which course best syncs with your strategy. The important thing is: with PROCEDE you will see these options, instead of wondering 'what if?'

Q: We have already expanded the brand internally and have settled on a focused path. Why should we start by expanding the possibilities again?

A: You determine the parameters. We look at your goal or brief as the peak of a mountain. We will show you paths that are available to get there. Some will be right in front of us, while others around the other side of the mountain might be more interesting. Our job is to serve as guides showing you paths toward your established goal. The goal need not change and it is always your decision to choose which path. We are more valuable guides when we provide a full range of considerations.

Q: My schedule is completely overloaded. Will PROCEDE require me to work harder?

A: In fact, PROCEDE makes things easier in many ways because you can give out a design assignment and know that it will be thoroughly thought through. You may see a range of solutions that is larger than you are used to, yet they are easily editable because they are presented so clearly, along with the reasoning that inspired them and tools for decision-making. You can agree, disagree and consider things in ways you might not have thought about.

Q: How does PROCEDE help me get to the right solution, the “one”?

A: Early in the process you get to review a broader spectrum of possible solutions. PROCEDE includes exercises weʼve developed to help you determine just what aspects of these solutions should be incorporated in the final design. This approach shows you possible options as real design references rather than leaving you to imagine “what if” a certain technique had been tried or another avenue had been explored.

Q: Does PROCEDE cost more?

A: PROCEDE fits in with typical budgets. Though project budgets may vary, the method -- how we approach your project -- does not.

Q: How will PROCEDE change the way I currently work?

A: PROCEDE does not need to affect the steps you now have. It changes the way we work as a design firm and the power of results for you.

Q: How will PROCEDE affect the way I work with other creative resources?

A: You will have to decide that for yourself. Do you want to have a better range of options to better match your companyʼs needs? Do you want to work with a firm who explores a greater range of options, and also works with you to get to the “one” that best serves your project?

Q: We have very rigid production requirements and are limited to the types of structures and design techniques we can use. Will PROCEDE still work for me under strict guidelines?

A: You set the parameters. Our goal is to show you an expanded range of options that all meet or exceed your criteria, along with the rationale behind them and effective tools for decision making.

Q: PROCEDE looks like a tremendous amount of work. Our time lines are getting more compressed. Can PROCEDE result in a viable solution under a tight time frame?

A: Deadlines are no different under PROCEDE. The difference for you is how we utilize our resources. By assigning more members of our design team to various aspects of your project via PROCEDE, we can achieve “creative parallel processing” that nets you greater creativity and better options within normal time frames and budgets. In essence, we’ve reworked our side of the process to make things better for you.

Q: What kinds of projects are right for PROCEDE?

A: PROCEDE works at all scales from a simple design project to an entire re-branding. Itʼs more about a way of thinking that ʻincludesʼ better solutions for you to consider, rather than ʻexcludingʼ what we develop because we anticipate or second guess before you even get to see the possibilities.
